Family Values Kit with Add-Ons

One of my favorite Chalky & Company kits since I very first signed up is the family values kit.  I mean seriously- how cute is this kit?!?!  It is a big kit though and I wasn't sure where to put it in my home so I held off and held off.  Well last month I decided to just buy it (with my Chalky paycheck!) and I would decide where to put it after I painted it.  I sometimes wing things in this way. :-)  

My kit arrived and I layed it out on our dining room table to begin the painting process.  My hubby walks in and asks what I am doing, what is this, where is it going?  I tell him it is our family values kit and that I have no idea where to put it, where does he think it should go?  He says, "Hmmmm,"  and rubs his chin.  This means 1 of 2 things people:  He is about to have a genius idea or I am about to be in serious trouble.  Ok maybe sometimes it means both things haha. 

He says, "Why don't you add our last name and all of our fist names?  That would be awesome."  I agree but inform him that it would also be huge.  I can't think of a place to hang 12 tiles and now he wants me to hang 36 tiles!  Ok.  I can do this.  I can make this happen. 

So, thanks to Chalky & Company's awesome personalize your chalky options I am able to order all of the ad-on tiles and stencils to make this happen.  

My add-ons arrived and lay them all out on the table to make sure everything is there, will fit together properly and gauge just how big this project is.  Whew!  It works and it will fit in the place that I have decided to put it. Yay! 

I start by apply our Heritage Brown glaze to each of the tiles. 

Then I added all of the stencils. 

Next I applied 3 coats of our vintage white paint.

Then I removed our handy dandy stencils. Don't these tiles look awesome!?!? 

Now the next part is tricky for me.  I decided to hang this kit in a large garden shelf at the top of the wall in our entry-way.  I hate heights.  And yes being on a 10' ladder constitutes "Heights" in my opinion.  Gives me a minor panic attack just thinking about climbing around up there.  So... handsome hubby to the rescue!  He will do the high up off the ground portion of this kit installation.  Love that guy!

Here is where we will hang our Family Values kit. 

We removed all of my antiques, dusted a bit, and drew out our center line.  Well my hubby drew the line- I'm not getting up there!

Next we started hanging our tiles.  Chalky & Company makes this kit SO EASY to install.  The tiles each come with a command strip to hang them.  No nails, screws, or holes in the wall.  I hand my hubby the tiles and he sticks them to the wall. 

We set my antiques back in the space And VOILA! Our family values kit with add-ons is completed.  It only took me about 1-1/2 hours to stain and paint all 36 tiles (with the help and interruptions of 4 kids)  and about 15 minutes to remove the antiques, vacuum/dust the area and hang all of the tiles.
