April KOTM- Good Friends

Introducing Good Friends, the Chalky and Company April 2017 kit of the month.  How cute is this!?!

Just one of the things that I love about Chalky (there are a lot of things!) is that our kits are multi-use, multi-purpose, and can be used in so many ways.  One of our Chalky consultants had an idea brainstorm about the ways we could use this kit and our consultants had so man great ideas.  Obviously it is great for carrying/displaying wine bottles and glasses.  It can be used as a picnic caddy to hold flatware, napkins, condiments, etc.  Use it to organize your blow dryer, curling irons, flat irons, etc.  Add small mason jars and turn it into a craft carrier holding your pens, markers, paint brushes, etc.  There were so many good ideas and now I feel like I need 3 or 4 of these cute kits in my life!  How would you use Good Friends?

Another of the many reasons why I love Chalky and Company is that each kit can be painted, stained, embellished, and personalized is so many different ways.  I have had parties where 5 or 6 people will be painting the same kit and none of them will look the same when finished.  You can truly make each kit your own.  What color would you paint Good Friends?  What embellishments would you add?  What about hardware?

Front Porch Friends

Hello everyone!  I just finished painting this super cute (and easy!!!) kit from Chalky and Company called Front Porch Friends.  This double sided kit was released in their 2016 Holiday catalog and brought into the Spring into Summer 2017 catalog because it is so cute!  Over the holidays it was painted by most as a Scarecrow (Thanksgiving/Fall) on one side and a snowman (Christmas/Winter) on the other.

As usual though, several ladies got really creative with their talent and painted some super cute other characters.  Here are a few:

I decided that I wanted to try my hand at a spring time version of the kit.  I am NOT as talented as some of these awesome ladies but I love how my kit turned out anyways!  I started off with this wood kit.

I decided that the first holidays that we decorate for in spring are St. Patrick's Day and Easter.  I painted this cute little red bearded leprechaun on the first side.

On the opposite side I painted a bunny, easter eggs, and Happy Easter.  I love that this will be the first "greeting" that our guests receive as they arrive at our home!

What creative faces, phrases or designs could you create on a Front Porch Friends kit?  Contact me to order yours or host a party and you could earn it 1/2 price or for free!

Chalky Furniture Painting

Chalky Painting Furniture & Decor

I had a customer ask me, "What can you paint with Chalky & CO paint and painter's powder?"  I thought to myself, "What CAN'T you paint with it!?!"   I have painted several items of home decor and small pieces of furniture with our products.  Here are just a couple!

I found these cute candle holders on CLEARANCE and thought they were SO cute but I am not a black and gold person so... Chalky & CO to the rescue!   I painted them vintage white and a teal color (not Chalky) that I had on hand.  I mixed both colors with our signature painter's powder and got busy painting.  I applied 3 coats to each item.

I after I felt I had them sufficiently covered and the paint had dried completely I applied a coat of Jacobean colored antiquing wax over the paint.  I love this wax!

This was such a quick and easy project and I think they look great!

Another Chalky & CO furniture paint job that I did was this little shelf.  I needed something to set my printer and a few binders on in my office and found this guy for just $15 at Habitat for Humanity.

I did a dry cloth wipe down to remove any dust/dirt and started painting.  THAT'S IT!  No other prep required.  No sanding, stripping, or other tedious work.  Just wipe it off and paint it!   I did 2 coats of Midnight Black with Painter's powder and 2 coats of Flat Velvet top coat to protect the piece.

Painting furniture or other items with Chalky and Company products is easy and effective.
